If you like children’s literature and were in the know, chances are, you were at The Gladstone this past Monday night. Small Print Toronto was hosting their first benefit; Storybook Confidential. It was claimed to be ‘the’ place to be and yes, I was there. As a helper to the event, I was stationed at the Body Art table and then later at the Write/Draw me a story. In addition, to such activities, on the stage were authors sharing stories they had written when they were kids. Host Chris Reed was a perfect emcee to the event, at times summing up stories with a mass-understood “Wow.” He and his team kept the energy going all night, which ended in a raffle of prizes generously donated for the cause. I got in on the action by donating a ‘Retro Rocketship’ painting as well as buying raffle tickets. Although I didn’t win anything, I was happy to see the look on Kevin Sylvester‘s face when he won bid and won my painting.
Happiness is helping children’s literacy, sharing stories, making art, and making people smile!
